\n
\nPlease record your thoughts an opinions about your journey on the Kidz Cannes Film Festival.
\n
\nWhat were the good points? What went well and why? What didn't work - how would you do it differently next time? What new ideas or changes would you like to happen for our next Kidz Cannes Film Festival?
\n
\nWe look forward to hearing your ideas.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"30662381","body":"The good points:
\nKids had a great time (blissfully unaware of time ticking on).
\nHUGE parent turnout at the film evening and many positive comments from them regarding how much their sons and daughters loved being part of this project.
\nGreat co-operation by all involved and everyone just getting on with the job.
\nThe finished movies were great and the kids I worked with were very proud of what THEY had produced.
\nMore confidence on my part once the process was finished...had no worries then setting up kids in my room to then replicate what we had done using the same skills and then training others...just sed it as part of my literacy program as it involved sequencing and story telling.
\n
\nWhat would I do differently? Give myself a little more time, the last day didn't need to be so stressful and rushed...but hey, you only learn these things through experience!
\n
\nI would have liked to have had more time to play with our images...we really only had time to select, crop and place them in the film with text and narration...we didn't manage to play with the colouring, light levels, all the transitions etc.","dateCreated":"1290501790","smartDate":"Nov 23, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"davepearson1","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/davepearson1","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1288085235\/davepearson1-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"30662471","body":"Hi Dave
\n
\nGreat to hear that you are embedding the skills learnt at the festival into your classroom programme ~ achieving one of the outcomes we had hope for from the festival.
\n
\nThe parent turnout at the film premiere was stunning - for me next time I would like to capture more of the parent\/guardians comments - this could be capture through the blog, the documentary team could interview parents, or we could survey the parent.
\n
\nThe buzz amongst the students and teachers was awesome I agree. The positive attitudes of teachers involved made that possible. Thank you to everyone involved :-)","dateCreated":"1290502353","smartDate":"Nov 23, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"EWatts","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/EWatts","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1378792015\/EWatts-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"30722953","body":"Wonderful experience all round. Very focussed and co-operative students made it a pleasure to explore with them. Excellent structure provided by the steering committee made it flow smoothly- though agree with Dave that more time would have been great... a rush simply to sort the clips and get them in the movie sequenced, but not enough time to really get into editing - colour, transitions, GarageBand, themes, split-screens etc etc etc. I will definitely be continuing to use and expand my understanding of making videos, and sharing this with both students and teachers. LOVED the whole experience, despite the nail-biting last day!!
\n
\n
\nSuggestions for next time:
\n1.Allocate more time for teachers to run through and play with software\/hardware; if we are to learn and expand, we need time to experiment too, and also time to share new learning\/ideas with each other.
\n2. Perhaps have a Big Questions (or Questions) for the students, DEVELOPED from a concept and binary opposites, so that we all have that as a guideline. Either that, or maybe the concept of "HOMES" needed more time to explore and develop with the students? It would have been great to have had more time to explore\/develop the kids' understandings and prior knowledge on the concept :) Also, possibly give the students the Big Questions(s) and concept earlier, so they can be thinking about it..?
\n3. Build in regular de-briefings\/sharing sessions for staff, along the way. HEAPS of valuable stuff here! It was great having even the odd minute to talk with others - e.g. during morning tea 'break" (ha!)
\n
\nThe above are not meant as negatives- I do think the whole thing was WONDERFUL and a great learning experience- thank you for the opportunity!

Great to hear about the positives and what could make it run smoother next time! All ideas are welcome.
\n
\nI think BIG questions would complement a concept and binary opposites. I think not knowing the concept until the festival starts helps students to be more innovative and 'quirky' in their thinking. What do you think?
\n
\nI definitely agree we need more time for developing ideas with students at the festival, more teacher 'play' session before and more formal staff de-briefings during. A sharing with everyone of films in progress would also be great! (hmmm...no so much more time!) It was hard this year for teachers to stay after and debrief because they had to drive their students back to school for 3pm. Next year we will ask teachers to arrange alternative transport (perhaps parent help) so they can stay to debrief. We are also thinking of a 'camp' film festival.
\n
\nThanks again for all you hard work - its was a great learning experience :-)","dateCreated":"1290673734","smartDate":"Nov 25, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"EWatts","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/EWatts","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1378792015\/EWatts-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"31502543","body":"The film festival was a huge success to students and teachers alike. I think we all learnt so much due to needing to trouble shoot all the way. More time to develop ideas is definitely a must as the reality was most of us filmed and produced our movie in only one day. Wouldn't a whole week be terrific?

\nThanks very much for all who organised this fantastic event.","dateCreated":"1291944665","smartDate":"Dec 9, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"ruthkenny","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/ruthkenny","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}}],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
